Arnold, Miss.-based firm Arnold Defense has introduced its new laser-guided rocket launcher along with an advanced precision kill weapon system at the 2018 Special Operations Forces Exposition at Marka, Jordan, Defense News reported Thursday.
Arnold Defense developed the Fletcher launcher in collaboration with Nammo, BAE Systems and General Dynamics to address the military’s demand for a system with pinpoint accuracy for urban operations.
BAE Systems contributed the rocket and guidance package, Nammo the warhead and General Dynamics the rocket motor for Fletcher.
Arnold Defense CEO Jim Hager stated that prior to the APKWS, operators who lack air cover or artillery support found it difficult to deploy rockets without creating collateral damage.
Hager added the U.S. Army, as well as “virtually every country,” has expressed interest in procuring the Fletcher launcher.
Arnold Defense will demonstrate the technology from a containerized weapon system next week at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.
