AeroVironment has received ISO 9001:2015/AS9100D certification for the quality management system the company uses across its unmanned aircraft, tactical missile, electric vehicle charging and power cycling and test systems businesses.
SAI Global issued the certificate that covers AeroVironment’s design, development, operational performance, production and support processes, the UAS manufacturer said Friday.
Wahid Nawabi, president and CEO of AeroVironment, said the combined certification follows the company’s inclusion as a ‘Tier 1’ business on the U.S. Army‘s 2017 Superior Supplier Incentive Program list.
The AS9100 standard works to supplement ISO 9001 with additional quality requirements set forth by the Defense Department, NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration.
AS9100D is based on the Society of Automotive Engineers’ standards for aerospace systems design, manufacture, produce, assembly and test.
