Finland is seeking a contractor to provide a replacement for the country’s F/A-18 Hornet aircraft slated for retirement beginning in 2025, Reuters reported Friday.
The report said possible candidates to replace the current Finnish fighter aircraft include Boeing, Lockheed Martin and a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo.
The Finnish government looks to buy 64 multirole jets and Reuters estimates the contract’s value will be in the $9 billion-12 billion range.
Interested offerors can submit price quotations through early 2019, the report noted.
Finland expects to hand down a decision sometime in 2021.
