Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO at Lockheed Martin, has received an award from theÂ Edison Awards Steering Committee in recognition of her contributions to the technology field through professional career, achievements and leadership.
The company said ThursdayÂ she accepted theÂ 2018 Edison Achievement Award at a gala ceremony that took place Wednesday night.
“I’m humbled and I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the 100,000 women and men of Lockheed Martin,” said Hewson, also aÂ 2018 Wash100Â recipient.
She added the company’s workforce has contributed to innovation efforts across land, sea, air, space and cyber domains.
Lockheed also received Gold prizes for its Matrix TechnologyÂ designed to support autonomous helicopter operations and Spectrally Beam Combined Fiber LasersÂ built to secure weapons from security threats.
The company added it won a Silver prize for itsÂ Geostationary Lightning MapperÂ instrument that works to monitor lightning from space.
