Lockheed Eyes Int'l Weapons Sales Amid US Arms Transfer Policy Reform - top government contractors - best government contracting eventRichard Edwards, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin‘s international business, has said he believes the Trump administration’s policy on conventional arms transfers will help accelerate sales of weapons systems to U.S. allies, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Edwards told Reuters that foreign sales accounted for nearly 30 percent of the company’s 2017 revenue.

Saudi Arabia is reviewing a contract to procure Lockheed-built Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missiles and the company is working with state-owned Saudi Arabian Military Industries to finalize details on employment and sovereignty matters relevant to the deal.

The Maryland-based contractor teamed up with MBDA in a bid to develop an integrated air and missile defense system for Germany.

Lockheed also plans to compete for Germany’s heavy-lift helicopter procurement program.
