A joint venture of Huntington Ingalls‘ technical solutions business and KBR‘s government services arm has received a contract to help the Australian government establish and manage a Naval Shipbuilding College.
The Naval Shipbuilding Institute will support the project as part of Australia’s efforts to build up the country’s shipbuilding industry over the next three decades under a $69.1 billion investment plan, HII said Tuesday.
Andy Green, president of the technical solutions division at HII and a 2018 Wash100 recipient, said the company’s partnership with KBR offers workforce development and training expertise to the NSI venture.
Both companies have assembled a team consisting of multiple shipbuilding, educational, training, academic and business organizations that will help execute the Naval Shipbuilding College’s mission.
Team members include PwC, AiGroup, Manpower Group and Australian vocational education and training providers in Adelaide and Fremantle.
