The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Galois a two-year, $800,000 contract to produce a suite of tools for organizations to exchange information that can aid cybersecurity technology development, test and evaluation efforts.
Galois said Monday it aims to help DHS address privacy and confidentiality concerns from cyber data sources through the Framework for Information Disclosure with Ethical Security.
“FIDES represents perhaps the first practical ‘big data’ analytics platform for network and other data that provides government agencies and corporations the ability to understand that data while keeping it private,†said David Archer, principal researcher for privacy and cryptography at Galois.
The toolkit is designed to help government agencies and corporations prevent unauthorized access to non-anonymized data.
Galois noted the project is part of DHS’ Information Marketplace for Policy and Analysis of Cyber-risk and Trust effort that aims to increase data sharing between industry, government and academia.
