The Defense Health Agency has begun to request information on the availability of an enterprise reference and metadata management platform that will work to integrate business and health data amid the anticipated rise in clinical data driven by the adoption of a new electronic health record system.
A FedBizOpps notice posted April 17 says DHA launched the market research effort to seek data on reference and metadata management systems that can integrate national standard terminology in various domains to automate terminology mapping and support client-specific reference tables for multiple domains of data.
DHA said such systems should interface with Cerner-built subsystems and automate mapping of terms upon updating the national standard code sets.
The market research initiative comes as the Military Health System intends to consolidate data storage systems and carry out data migration in support of the new EHR platform.
