DARPA Seeks New Tools, Concepts to Secure DoD Space Systems, Satellites - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Tactical Technology Office has issued a request of information on cybersecurity tools and methods for the Defense Department’s national security space systems and low-Earth orbit satellite networks.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday says DARPA seeks new platforms to secure space information systems built to collect, store, process and transmit national security data.

The agency is also interested in National Security Agency-certified cryptographies and cryptographic techniques, pseudorandom bit streams and tools intended to protect on-orbit data in cloud environments and autonomously manage data across multiple satellites.

DARPA plans to host a workshop from May 22 to 24 in San Diego to seek input from the government, commercial and academic sectors on potential challenges and strategies in developing space cybersecurity systems.

The agency aims to use cybersecurity advances that go beyond compliance with DoD instructions in a push to showcase military utility.
