DARPA awards autonomous cybersecurity research contracts to STR, Arizona State University - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded an $8.7 million contract to  Systems Technology and Research and a $7.5 million contract to Arizona State University to support DARPA’s Harnessing Autonomy for Countering Cyberadversary Systems program.

DARPA received 30 offers for the project via a competitive acquisition process under an open broad agency announcement, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

The HACCS program aims to produce tools that can identify malicious cyber-adversary infiltrated networks, generate software exploits for huge amounts of known vulnerabilities and create software that can autonomously neutralize cyber-adversary software agents.

The agency initially obligated $625,000 on STR’s contract and another $493,000 on ASU’s contract.

Both awardees are expected to complete work by April 2022.
