Microsoft’s cloud offerings have received certification in Australia to host data at the protected level.
The company said Tuesday the Australian government’s signals directorate has added its Azure and Office 365 platforms to the Certified Cloud Services List.
Steven Worrall, managing director of Microsoft’s Australian arm, said the Protected Level certification for Office 365 and Azure seeks to facilitate the delivery of support to Australia’s digital transformation initiatives and efforts to streamline government processes.
Microsoft also announced the launch of two new Azure cloud regions designed to support the requirements of government agencies and critical infrastructure in Australia and New Zealand.
The Azure Australia Central regions located within Canberra Data Centres’ facilities will offer application development and other information technology services such as data management, application services as a platform, security management and infrastructure virtualization.
Microsoft also partnered with 47 companies that will leverage the Azure Australia Central cloud regions and those include Accenture, Leidos, DXC Technology, MapRÂ Technologies, Red Hat, Thales, Unisys and PwC.
