York Space Systems Passes Critical Design Review for Army Satellite Mission - top government contractors - best government contracting eventYork Space Systems has cleared a critical design review for a satellite that the aerospace company currently develops for the U.S. Army.

Representatives from the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command and the U.S. Air Force conducted the review of the Harbinger mission at York’s spacecraft design and production facility in Denver, Colo., the company said Wednesday.

Harbinger is based on York’s S-CLASS satellite and is scheduled for launch on Nov. 15.

Charles Beames, executive chairman and chief strategy officer at York, said S-CLASS is designed to carry out any low Earth orbit mission at lower costs.

S-CLASS serves as the foundation for three constellation missions focused on Earth observation, space monitoring and national defense.

The spacecraft is intended to carry approximately 187 pounds of payload; provide up to 100 watts of orbit average power; and support missions such as Earth observations, weather and communications.

S-CLASS is designed for mass manufacture and to form satellite constellations.
