A StandardAero subsidiary has received a potential four-year contract to help maintain the U.K. Army Air Corps’ Gazelle AH Mk1 helicopters that have been in service for nearly five decades.
Vector Aerospace will commence maintenance work on 26 Gazelle units at the Fleetlands facility in Gosports, England, where the platform currently undergoes safety modification upgrades, StandardAero said Thursday.
Simon Jones, managing director at Vector Aerospace’s U.K. arm, said the contract compliments the company’s efforts to support with the company’s support the Chinook Through Life Customer Support program led by Boeing‘s U.K. defense business.
The U.K. ministry of defense announced in July 2016 its plans to extend life service of by nine years.
Vector Aerospace’s contract includes options that could extend work through June 30, 2022.
