TheÂ Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has chosenÂ Siemens‘ U.S. federal subsidiary to support the installation, operation and maintenance of a power farm near Murphy, North Carolina.
Arlington, Virginia-basedÂ Siemens Government Technologies will install and manage aÂ 2,000 photovoltaic solar panel array for EBCI under aÂ $2.36 million contract, the companyÂ said Thursday.

The company expectsÂ the project to be operational in March 2019 and to help power four buildings encompassing more than 155,000 square feet through renewable energy.
Siemens will help train EBCI’s civil engineering team to install, maintain and operate the PV installation.
The Native American tribe is projected toÂ save more than $100,000 in energy costs a year with its future solar farm.
