Saab has received an $18.8 million contract to update a system that works to help the Australian navy manage and monitor systems of Collins-class submarines.
The company said Wednesday it will provide an updated Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System along with spares for four submarines under the from ASC, the prime contractor on Australia’s Collins-class platform.
ISCMMS is designed to help operators manage ship propulsion, trim, power generation and services.
Andy Keough, managing director of Saab Australia, said the company developed hardware and software during the first phase of the ISCMMS upgrade project.
ASC has completed integration of the new system into HMAS Collins and is scheduled to equip HMAS Waller with the system later this year.
The remaining submarines will incorporate the updated ISCMMS sometime in 2019.
