Report: Israel Defense Forces to Recommend Boeing's Chinook for Next IAF Helicopter Fleet - top government contractors - best government contracting eventIsrael’s defense forces plans to recommend the Boeing-built Chinook offering as a potential replacement to the Israeli air force’s current heavy-lift helicopter platform, The Jerusalem Post reported Monday.

IAF has maintained a fleet of Sikorsky-built Yasur helicopters since 1969 to support military personnel transport efforts.

JPost identified Boeing’s CH-47 and Sikorsky’s CH-53K as the competing platforms to modernize IAF’s helicopter fleet.

The report said funds for the heavy-lift procurement effort will come from the U.S.’ potential 10-year, $38 billion military aid to Israel.
