Raytheon’s Dave Wajsgras: Cyber Cuts Across Land, Air, Sea, Space Domains

Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, has said cybersecurity extends across ground, aerial, maritime and space domains and has made an impact on how the military performs its missions.

Wajsgras, a 2018 Wash100 recipient, talked at the 2018 Boston Conference on Cyber Security and discussed the ubiquity of cyber in several domains, Raytheon said Wednesday.

Cyber “cuts across all the different domains. It really changed the nature of how the intelligence community, and how the military, the [Defense Department], carries out their missions,” he noted.

He cited the capability of ground forces to leverage cyber through GPS and radio systems to launch attacks on electricity and other critical infrastructure.

Wajsgras discussed how cryptographers leverage cyber in maritime battles and how cyber impacts air warfare.

He said the decision to make the U.S. Cyber Command a full combatant command reflects how the U.S. government perceives cyber.
