Lockheed Martin has teamed with a Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based engineering company to produce laser guided bomb tailkits, Saudi Gazette reported Wednesday.
Wahaj, a subsidiary of Saudi International Petrochemical Company, agreed to co-manufacture the air foil group for Lockheed-made Paveway II Plus LGBs under a teaming agreement.
“We are dedicated to supporting the Kingdom’s national security objectives defined in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 development plan,†Alan Chinoda, chief executive of Lockheed’s Saudi Arabian business, was quoted as saying.
“By the time production ramps to full operational capability, we envision localization to be upwards of 70 percent,” Chinoda added.
Paveway’s air foil group has three configurations and the weapon is authorized for use with Saudi Arabia’s F-15, F-16 and Tornado aircraft platforms.
