The U.S. Army and Lockheed Martin have demonstrated the capacity of two company-built PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative interceptors to counter tactical ballistic missile targets.

Lockheed said Tuesday its PAC-3 CRI interceptors engaged two ballistic missiles during an Army-led flight test that supported the service branch’s Field Surveillance Program.

FSP aims to ensure the readiness and reliability of fielded missile defense systems.

Some Army officials and potential foreign military sales customers were present during the system demonstration held at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Countries that have adopted PAC-3 systems are the U.S., Romania, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Kuwait, Germany, Qatar, Japan and South Korea.
