Lockheed, New Zealand Sign Contract for Anzac-Class Frigate Tech Installation, Test - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin‘s Canadian arm and the New Zealand government have formalized an agreement for the installation and testing of Anzac-class frigate systems as part of ship modernization efforts.

The company said Wednesday it designed a combat system for two New Zealand frigates and subcontracted Seaspan Victoria Shipyards to install the technology on both ships at a Canada-based facility.

New Zealand’s HMNZS TE KAHA frigate arrived Tuesday in Victoria in British Columbia.

Lockheed Martin Canada will supply a platform based on the company’s Combat Management System 330  along with multiple sensors, a combat system trainer and a missile system for integration into the vessel.

Seaspan Shipyards will integrate and refit the updated systems over the next two years as part of the contract.

The second Anzac-class frigate, HMNZS TE MANA, is slated to arrive in Canada next year.
