A new F5 Networks report has shown that 42 percent of government information technology professionals said digital transformation helps advance the delivery of cloud-based applications.
F5 said Tuesday it polled approximately 300 government IT personnel worldwide for the 2018 State of Application Delivery report and found that 79 percent of respondents said digital transformation drives IT infrastructure optimization efforts.
“Government respondents made it clear they are heavily focused on building the foundation necessary for application-driven digital transformation,†said Peter Kersten, regional vice president of federal sales at F5.
The report showed that multi-cloud platforms encourage government agencies to pick the cloud offering that works to meet the requirements of a particular application and nearly 80 percent of respondents said they use multiple clouds.
F5 also identified the top five government services that agencies intend to field in the next year and those are single sign-on; application programming interface gateway; content delivery network; identity federation; and global server load balancing.
The study revealed that 33 percent of respondents said they consider application security as a top challenge and 65 percent of organizations said they use web application firewalls to protect applications from security vulnerabilities.
More than 70 percent of respondents said they consider the use of automation in IT system operations as “very†or “somewhat†vital, according to the report.
“Around the world, government organizations are shifting towards digital government, and with that we see government organizations embracing the cloud, adopting automation and orchestration, and adjusting security strategies,†Kersten noted.
