DARPA Initiates Effort to Scrutinize Gray-zone of Conflict - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency‘s Strategic Technology Office has initiated an effort aiming to further understand and address the gray-zone of conflict, an area between peace and warfare wherein hostility is difficult to identify.

Under the Collection and Monitoring via Planning for Active Situational Scenarios or COMPASS effort, DARPA seeks to construct software that makes use of stimuli-response data to help identify enemy intentions, the agency said Wednesday.

DARPA intends to integrate artificial intelligence technologies with game theory, modeling and estimation techniques to identify stimuli and generate information on enemy motives.

The program also includes the development of simulations to further study potential adversarial actions within the gray-zone.

Seeking AI experts to help with the effort, DARPA will host a Proposers Day event set for March 30 in Arlington, Virginia.

Interested contributors may register up to March 26, 12:00 pm eastern time.
