Charles River Analytics has secured a two-year, $2 million contract to update the features of a game-based maintenance training environment for the U.S. Air Force.
The company said Wednesday its Maintenance Training based on an Adaptive Game-Based Environment using a Pedagogic Interpretation Engine works to simulate the avionics maintenance functions and helps train students to maintain F-15E aircraft.
Users of the system are granted access to a suite of authoring tools, trainee skill models and a game engine designed to integrate trainee performance, instructional design theory and motivational theory.
The service branch looks to replace its conventional training approaches for aircraft maintainers with virtual tools such as MAGPIE.
Charles River noted that the Air Force Research Laboratory believes that company’s technology can help transform the aircraft maintenance training process.
