The Justice Department has given CenturyLink the green light to sell certain metro network assets of Level 3 Communications in Boise, Idaho, to fiber-optic networking services provider Syringa Networks.
Monroe, Louisiana-based CenturyLink said Tuesday the sale is still subject to other customary closing conditions and comes nearly five months after the telecommunications firm completed its $34 billion acquisition of Level 3.
CenturyLink signed an agreement with DOJ to divest acquired fiber network assets in Idaho, New Mexico and Arizona.
The telecommunications company noted it will continue to serve former Level 3 customers in Boise unless they opt to switch to Syringa’s services following the sale’s closure.
The possible sale will not include or affect Boise area networks and business assets that CenturyLink operated prior to the acquisition.
