Boeing has secured a $73.2 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Navy to perform modifications on four F/A-18E/F Super Hornets in an effort to extend the aircraft’s service life.
The company will aim to extend the operational service life of the service branch’s F/A-18E/F fleet from 6,000 to 9,000 flight hours, the Defense Department said Wednesday.
Seventy-five percent of the work will occur in St. Louis, Missouri, and the remaining 25 percent in El Segundo, California.
The Navy will obligate $67.5 million in fiscal 2018 aircraft procurement funds at the time of award.
Boeing is scheduled to complete work under the sole-source contract in April 2020.
