BAE Systems has proposed a combat vehicle for the U.S. Army’s Mobile Protected Firepower program.
The MPF program seeks to provide the service’s infantry brigade combat teams with a precision firepower capability and help IBCTs maneuver through various terrain conditions, BAE said Thursday.
Jim Miller, director of business development at BAE’s combat vehicles business, said the company has leveraged its over 30 years of research and development work to offer a lightweight combat vehicle for the MPF program.
The company said it will submit on April 2 its proposed vehicle platform, which is based on the M8 Armored Gun System, to go through additional government tests as part of the military branch’s bid evaluation process.
The Army issued a request for proposals for the MPF program in November 2017.
