The U.S. Army has announced plans to award a contract for electronic warfare technologies that will be used for unmanned aircraft systems, C4ISRnet reported Friday.
Work under the contract will be done in support of the Multi-Function Electronic Warfare program, an effort aiming to provide EW capacities for the Army’s brigade combat teams.
Based on the DoD’s fiscal 2019 budget request, the Army intends to allot $39.8 million in support of MFEW’s air component, as part of the effort’s predicted total $195.8 million budget covering five years.
The report noted that the MQ-1C Gray Eagle may be among the UAS to be equipped with technologies procured through the effort.
