Amazon.com has secured a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for an unmanned aerial vehicle that is designed to react to human gestures, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
The patent supports Amazon’s plans to develop a fleet of UAVs that will work to deliver packages to customers within 30 minutes.
The UAV will use various sensors to detect human voices and movement, then change its behavior in response to the detected activity, the patent stated.
The drone could release a package, shift its flight path, ask questions from humans or abort the delivery.
Amazon’s future delivery UAVs could either drop packages from the air or release the parcel after landing.
