James Mackie, former director of the Treasury Department‘s Office of Tax Analysis, has joined Ernst and Young as co-director of the company’s quantitative economics and statistics group.
The more than 30-year Treasury veteran will lead the Washington, D.C.-based QUEST group with  Robert Carroll, said Thursday.
In his previous role, Mackie led OTA’s efforts to analyze and produce reports on tax reform proposals for department leaders, lawmakers and White House officials.
He began his career at the Treasury Department in 1985 as a financial economist and helped develop policy initiatives in accordance with the 1986 Tax Reform bill.
Mackie was appointed as OTA director in 2008.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University, as well as both master’s and Ph.D. degrees in economics from University of Virginia.
