Maxar Technologies’ SSL subsidiary will work with the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center to conduct a study on new space architectures and related systems in support of the service branch’s Space Enterprise Vision.
SEV seeks to ensure resiliency in space defense capabilities through the development of new enterprise-level technology platforms designed to defend and protect space architectures from emerging threats, SSL said Wednesday.
“Our national and global security depends on the operational continuity and resilience of our space assets,†said Richard White, president SSL’s government systems business.
White added the company is honored to share its concepts and experience in the design and development of space systems with the Air Force to help the service facilitate innovation in support of its Space Enterprise Vision.
SSL works on several defense, civil and commercial space studies and programs such as Dragonfly robotics, its partnership with the Air Force on the development of a secure interface designed to host government payloads on satellites and the Payload Orbital Delivery System rideshare platform that is set to launch aboard an SSL-made satellite in 2018.
