SRI International to Support Army Battlefield Tech Security Research Initiative - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA research team that includes SRI International has received five-year, $25 million grant from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to develop analytic tools and services intended to secure cyber-physical systems in the battlefield.

SRI said Wednesday the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will lead the Alliance for IoBT Research on Evolving Intelligent Goal-driven Networks.

ARL, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California, University of Massachusetts and University of Southern California will also support the IoBT REIGN initiative.

“Battlefields are by nature fast-paced adversarial environments and security challenges arising from these cyber-physical environments will be addressed in every research task” said Tancrede Lepoint, SRI computer scientist and cryptographer.

Lepoint will serve as the nonprofit’s principal investigator for IoBT REIGN and lead security research efforts of the project team.

SRI aims to integrate data-based inductive learning and deductive reasoning approaches to address reaction speed, safety and efficiency issues related to autonomous IoBT agents.
