Reports: UTC, Rockwell Collins Pick Florida for ‘Collins Aerospace’ Exec Office

Rockwell Collins has released a proposed organizational structure for a new entity that would be formed once United Technologies Corp. completes its acquisition of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based avionics contractor, The Gazette reported Thursday.

Farmington, Connecticut-based UTC agreed to buy Rockwell Collins in September 2017 for approximately $30 billion and will combine the latter company with the conglomerate’s aerospace systems division to create a new business unit that will run as Collins Aerospace Systems.

Rockwell Collins said Collins Aerospace’s executive leadership team will work through a small office at UTC’s existing location in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Collins Aerospace will operate its avionics and mission systems business segments in Cedar Rapids, the report added.

KWWL.com also reported that Collins Aerospace’s interiors and mechanical systems business units will run in North Carolina.

The company’s aerostructures and power and controls divisions will respectively operate in Chula Vista, California, and Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

UTC Aerospace Systems and Rockwell Collins said in a combined statement the proposed structure will “continue to evolve” and seeks to minimize employee relocations and disruption.
