SpaceX has received a launch license from the Federal Aviation Administration for the maiden flight of its Falcon Heavy rocket that is set to take off Tuesday, Feb. 6, SpaceX reported Saturday.
Falcon Heavy will lift off from launch complex 39a at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and will carry as a payload a Tesla Roadster electric vehicle into heliocentric orbit.
The FAA license also requires SpaceX to have a third-party liability insurance with $110 million in coverage for the rocket’s inaugural launch.
FAA also released Friday interim airspace restrictions for the scheduled launch, the report added.
The license came a week after SpaceX completed the first static fire test of Falcon Heavy.
