Boeing will introduce an updated wing structure for the F-15 Advanced Eagle fighter aircraft that the company will deliver to Qatar, FlightGlobal reported Friday.
Steve Parker, Boeing vice-president of F-15 programs, told FlightGlobal that the aircraft maker could offer the redesigned wing as a service life extension option for the F-15 fleets of the U.S. Air Force and other international customers
The structural upgrade is meant to optimize the wing’s internal structure without changing the aerodynamics.
Boeing secured a potential $6.2 billion foreign military sales contract in December 2017 to deliver 36 new F-15QA planes to Qatar.
Parker added that the Qatari F-15s will include numerous new features, including a cockpit system with a large format display.
The Boeing vice president noted that Japan is also a potential customer for the F-15 structural upgrades.
