The U.S. Navy has awarded a $64.1 million contract to Tekla Research and a $57.4 million contract to Avian-Precise Co. for a range of support services to the Naval Air Systems Command’s Systems Engineering Department.
The Defense Department said Friday Tekla will perform up to 835,200 hours of systems specialty engineering and technical work while Avian-Precise will conduct up to 739,200 hours of sustaining engineering, training and tools support under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts.
Tekla will help NAVAIR assess technology, schedule, cost and maturity of design in functional areas such as air/ship integration, survivability and metrology.
Avian-Precise will help the command sustain a weapon system applicable to all U.S. naval aircraft platforms, foreign military sales customers and support systems.
The Pentagon expects contractors to finish work by April 2023 and noted that majority of the work will occur at Patuxent River, Maryland.
The Naval Air Warfare Center’s Aircraft Division received three proposals for the small business set-aside contracts via an electronic request for proposals.
