A Lockheed Martin business unit has received a one-year, $7.9 million delivery order to update the software product baseline of the Tomahawk Weapons Control Systems for the U.S. Navy and U.K. government.
Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems will also help the service branch manage and sustain TTWCSÂ software through the order awarded under a previously issued basic ordering agreement, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Work also includes requirements definition procurement, design and development, system development, security and sustainability support for new and existing TTWCS software and system documentation.
The Navy will obligate $7.4 million at the time of award from fiscal 2018 “other” procurement; research, development, test and evaluation; operations and maintenance; and foreign military sales funds.
DoD expects the company to fulfill the order by January 2019.
TTWCS is one of three key components of the Tomahawk Weapons System designed to integrate with ship navigation, communication, situational awareness and launch systems that facilitate route planning, retargeting and redirecting of missiles.
The system is used on Navy cruiser, destroyer and attack and guided missiles submarines as well as the U.K.’s Astute- and Trafalgar-class submarines.
