General Atomics EMS to Develop High Power Microwave Capacitators Under Navy Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting eventGeneral Atomics‘ electromagnetic systems business has received a U.S. Navy contract to develop high energy density capacitors designed as components for emerging high power microwave systems.

The company said Wednesday it seeks to construct capacitors with reduced size for HPM systems to be used on smaller naval platforms.

The contract follows a previous one awarded early January entailing high energy density capacitors for the Defense Department‘s non-lethal vehicle stopper system.

GA-EMS produces density capacitors that can be used for land, naval and direct energy applications.

The firm’s pulsed-power capacitors have been demonstrated to generate over 415 kilo joules of energy each.

The contracts for high energy density capacitors were awarded through the Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium.
