A Comtech Telecommunications business unit has received a multiyear, $134 million contract to help a U.S. wireless communications provider implement technology platforms designed to comply with the Federal Communications Commission‘s emergency call routing services policy.
Comtech said Tuesday its safety and security technologies group will provide E911 services for the customer’s 3G, 4G, and 5G networks across the country.
The wireless carrier intends to migrate its current and future cellular sites to a Comtech-built system that works to support text, image, data and video processing via public safety networks.
FCC requires domestic carriers to identify and transmit the location of 911 callers.
Comtech developed its E911 technology offerings for customers to determine the assigned dispatch center and deliver a caller’s location data to public safety personnel who can provide emergency services.
