A team of Iron Mountain and Chenega Corp.‘s applied solutions subsidiary has received a five-year contract for offsite records management storage and services to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Both companies will help BOP manage, transport, digitize, shred and provide special project services for records containing personal, medical and parole information on inmates, Iron Mountain said Thursday.
The contract has a base period of one year, followed by four option years.
Michael Lewis, vice president and general manager of Iron Mountain’s government services business, said the company works with clients to help them consolidate disparate storage facilities into a storage platform built to expedite data retrieval and secure information.
The industry team aims to help FBP reduce operational costs by at least 20 percent and manage quality of the bureau’s services through the contract.
FBP oversees 122 U.S. facilities that house approximately 190,000 inmates.
