BAE SystemsÂ has received a potential $72 million contract to help the U.S. Navy modernize aÂ Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser ship.
BAEÂ said MondayÂ the contract contains a $9.6 million initial value and coversÂ USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) docking selected restricted availability efforts.
â€œWe will utilize our cruiser experience to accomplish the DSRA and return the ship back to the fleet ready for continued service,” saidÂ Todd Hooks, general manager of BAE’s ship repair facility in Jacksonville, Florida.
The company is scheduled to commence work on board USS Philippine Sea in April and finish by February 2019.
Contract work will occur at BAE’s Jacksonville shipyard and at the Naval Station Mayport.
