BAE Systems‘ ship repair business in San Diego has received a potential $36.3 million contract to help the U.S. Navy implement USS Pearl Harbor‘s selected restricted availability for fiscal year 2018.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the contract has a $34.1 initial value and covers work to maintain, modernize and repair the Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship.
Work is scheduled to be complete by May 2019.
The Navy will provide $31.9 million in fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance funds plus $2.1 million in fiscal 2018 “other” procurement funds at the time of award.
The Naval Sea Systems Command received one offer for project via full and open competition on FedBizOpps.
Dock landing ships are built to transport landing craft in support of amphibious naval missions.
