Turkey-based Aselsan will begin the serial production of towed guns, air-defense systems, airburst ammunition and a fire-control center for the Turkish military under a contract with the country’s defense procurement agency, Defense News reported Jan. 18.
The report said Aselsan’s indigenous air-defense gun system platoon is programmed to perform low-altitude air-defense operations to counter air-to-ground and cruise missiles, drones and fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
The military electronics company noted the system completed live-fire trials in December.
Turkey’s army and air force will deploy the Aselsan products after delivery, the report added.
