Sierra Nevada Corp. has awarded Triumph Group a contract to produce a landing gear system for a reusable lifting-body vehicle designed to support NASA‘s resupply mission to the International Space Station.
Triumph said Tuesday it will provide main and nose landing gear along with integrated actuation technologies for door systems of Dream Chaser spacecraft SNC is building under its Commercial Resupply Services 2 contract with NASA.
Tom Holzthum, executive vice president of Triumph’s integrated systems business, said the landing gear system for the Dream Chaser spacecraft will represent the company’s capacity to design and integrate technologies for advanced aerospace applications.
Production of the landing gear and gear door systems will occur at Triumph’s facility in Redmond, Washington.
Triumph’s integrated systems unit and SNC previously offered consultation support to the space agency’s Commercial Crew Integrated Capability program through a partnership agreement between the companies.
