Saab has introduced a fixed-panel configuration of the company’s active electrically scanned array radar offering.
Sea Giraffe 4A Fixed Face is based on S-band AESA radar technology and designed to integrate with multiple naval platforms, the company said Friday.
Anders Linder, head of Saab’s surface radar solutions business, said the company aims to help customers address surveillance requirements for surface ships with the new radar configuration.
Sea Giraffe 4A is designed to simultaneously detect small moving targets in severe clutter and at different altitudes.
The technology also works to support surface-to-air missile systems and helps commanding officers obtain situational awareness via simultaneous air and surface surveillance.
AESA is a computer-based radar antenna designed to electronically move the direction of radio waves without the need of physical antenna movement.
