Saab to Demo Anti-Submarine Warfare Training System for US Navy - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The U.S. Navy is set to evaluate an anti-submarine warfare training system from Saab as part of the military branch’s Foreign Comparative Testing Program.

Saab said Tuesday it will demonstrate the AUV62-AT system this summer as the Navy looks to replace the service branch’s current platform for an undersea warfare training range.

Gorgen Johansson, a senior vice president at Saab and head of the company’s Dynamics business area, said that AUV62-AT is designed to help operators counter torpedo-equipped submarines that could destroy large vessels.

The company developed its artificial acoustic system to replicate submarines and function as a substitute maneuvering training target.

Saab noted that AUV62-T operators can launch the system from a ship, a submarine or a shore platform to aid submarine surveillance, detection, identification, classification and target engagement activities.
