Saab has opened a technology development center in Tampere, Finland, that includes a unit focused on electronic warfare systems.
The center will support Saab’s efforts to produce EW technology for Gripen E/FÂ fighter jets, airborne early warning and control aircraft and land-based electronic support measures/electronic intelligence systems, the company said Wednesday.
Hakan Buskhe, president and CEO of Saab, said the company established Tampere STC to serve as an integral part of its product development and production efforts.
The company plans to expand its STC concept into other areas of activity and locations.
Last year, the firm recruited several engineers and invested in a development laboratory.
Saab and its subsidiary Combitech has nearly 100 employees across the Finnish cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Jyvaskyla, Tampere and Sakyala.
