Rolls-Royce has signed an agreement to lease Texas Aero Engine Services‘ previously-owned facility that the former will use as a testbed for engine endurance tests.
The facility, located in Fort Worth, Texas, takes up 440,000 square feet and will serve as a venue for tests concerning Trent engines, Rolls-Royce said Thursday.
The company is currently working to market three engines under the Trent series, including the Trent 1000 TEN, the Trent XWB-97 and the Trent 7000.
The 1000 TEN is currently being used to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, while the other two are expected to be released within the year.
The TAESL facility was formerly used to perform maintenance and repair operations under a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and American Airlines.
Rolls-Royce is also developing plans on how to make use of the facility’s remaining space.
The company is considering to have some of the remaining space rented to sub-tenants.
