CAE‘s U.S subsidiary has received a contract to produce engine training systems for the U.S. Army‘s fleet of Abrams M1A2 main battle tanks.
CAE USA will build two Abrams tank driver stations equipped with live-engine maintenance trainers under the contract from the Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, the company said Tuesday.
The contract includes options for the development and delivery of nine more Abrams live-engine maintenance trainers for Fort Benning, Fort Lee and Gowen Field installations.
“These new engine trainers will provide a more realistic and practical training experience for students before they proceed to maintaining engines on the Army’s fleet of Abrams main battle tanks,” said Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA.
The company is scheduled to deliver two initial trainers to Fort Benning by 2019 to support diagnostic and troubleshooting maintenance training at the facility.
CAE USA added it will produce new courseware and provide an updated instructor operator station for the service branch to automate training scenarios, monitor sand evaluate students and simplify lesson plans.
