Northrop Grumman has received a potential five-year, $30 million contract to help repair or update various U.S. Navy navigation and ancillary equipment.
The Defense Department said Friday Northrop will support the AN/WSN-7 intertial navigation system, AN/WSN-7A ring laser gyro navigation systems and AN/WSN-7B ring laser gyrocompass under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
The systems are designed to offer full ship navigation capacities and deliver interface digital data such as velocity, position, velocity rates and time information to multiple ship systems.
Northrop will update software and hardware across the fleet for the service branch to address parts obsolescence and meet mission, interfaced sensor and user requirements.
The Navy will place a $521,000 initial task order for the Virginia-class attack submarine SSN 795 and another $471,404 task order for the Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier CVN 79 through the IDIQ contract at the time of award.
Work will take place in Virginia through January 2024.
