NASA has collaborated with Media Fusion to produce a virtual reality software platform that will allow users to experience the scale of the Space Launch System.
The software is designed to run on Oculus Rift VR headsets and simulate the SLS rocket’s Exploration Mission-1 flight from a launch pad located at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the agency said Saturday.
Anyone must download the software via the Oculus store in order to explore the rocket from the ground, as well as experience being in the cockpit during pre-launch activity.
NASA to launch an uncrewed Orion spacecraft 40,000 miles beyond the moon and return to Earth as part of the EM-1 mission, which the agency expects to last for three weeks.
